Indiana University South Bend will be sending 47 students, faculty, staff and friends on this exciting trip.

WHEN WE ARE LEAVING: We will be meeting in the Student Activities Center Parking Lot (see attached map) at 3:00 pm on Saturday, February 25 with a scheduled departure of 3:30 pm. It is expected that we will arrive in Biloxi, MS around 10:00 am. During the drive down we will be showing a few DVD/videos related to Hurricane Katrina, as a means of better preparing you for what you will experience, as well as give you some idea of what the local residents have endured. We anticipate stopping for dinner en route on Saturday, however we are currently expecting that this will be sometime after 7:00 pm, so plan with that in mind.

WHEN WILL WE RETURN: We are currently scheduled to depart Biloxi at 7:00 pm on Friday, March 3 to return to South Bend, and expect to arrive in South Bend at around noon on Saturday, March 4.

INSURANCE: As some of you are aware, the Student Life Office is purchasing a minimal health insurance policy for all participants. While this policy has minimal coverage amounts, it is better than not having any insurance, in case any one gets injured.

ACADEMIC CREDIT: We are offering two ways in which a student could have this trip listed on their academic transcripts, these courses would be pass/fail and would require enrollment prior to departure. There will be both a “0” credit hour and a “1” credit hour courses in which students could participate. Individuals that select the “1” credit hour course will be accessed an additional charge of $152.75 by the Bursar’s Office, there is no additional charge for those that enroll in the “0” credit hour course. If you are interested in doing this please stop by the Student Life Office to complete the necessary paperwork.

BLOG: The Student Life Office will be implementing a blog that will be updated daily during our trip as a means of communicating our experiences with the rest of the IUSB community. Many of you will be asked to assist us in posting information on this site, and we hope that you will consider helping.

PACKING LIST: Attached is a packing list for your use in preparing for the trip. Please limit your luggage to 1 moderately sized suitcase, sleeping bag, pillow, and backpack. Remember that we have limited luggage space available, and any thing that does not fit in the luggage compartment of the bus will have to ride inside with you.

EMERGENCY CONTACT INFORMATION: Attached is a sheet with emergency contact information that we ask you hare with your family, in the event that they need to contact you while you are participating in this trip.
