GoPrint in Labs
GoPrint, a print management system, is now in full production in all of the IT student computer labs. The purpose of the system is to cut down on wasted paper and ink, and allow students to better manage their printing.
The students are provided an allotment at the beginning of each semester which is a dollar amount equivalent to 650 simplex (one-sided) pages, or $32.50. Simplex pages cost 5 cents per page. Duplex (2-sided) pages cost 4 cents a side, or 8 cents a page. Once a student uses all of their allotment they need to add money to their account to continue printing. Three methods of payment are available:
- Pay cash at the Bursar's office in the Administration Building - funds are credited within 1 work day.
- Go to http://iupay.iusb.edu/ and use your credit card to add funds - funds are credited within 2 work days.
- Add cash via the GoPrint cash machine in the Information Commons - funds are credited immediately.
More detailed information is available in the FAQ on the IT Print Management website, http://www.iusb.edu/~sbit/print-management-faq.shtml
How can students reduce their paper usage?
- Preview documents to catch errors before printing.
- Use duplex printing whenever possible.
- When printing from a web page, select specific text needed and then, from the print menu, print only the selected data rather than the entire page..
- When printing slides provided by faculty, try printing 3, 4, or 6 on a page rather than just one per page.
- Consider: does this really need to be printed?
